We know that people have been going on and on about mermaids for centuries, and it can be said that even if they NEVER existed, they certainly occupied a portion of the world’s consciousness and some believed that they did…and that’s good enough for me!

I imagine the spirit of a Mermaid to be wild, free, bold, clever, creative, compassionate, smart, and full of a feeling that life is to be embraced and lived passionately and with truth and love…fearless and guided by morals and justice.

All of us carry the Mermaid spirit to some extent…it lies near the surface for some, undeniable and very obvious. In others, it runs deep, quiet, pulsing, growing, waiting to emerge in ways indiscernible, yet gaining momentum and strength. In Spirit we are all the same!

The part of me that carries the mermaid spirit wanted a private container for my unique finds & quirky items of “value”...perhaps something as common as a box. But fancier & more fun.

A Mermaid Box, ”because even Mermaids need some place to put their treasures”. How simple…a special box for shells, papers, photos…whatever one might hold sacred and treasured…it's different for everyone.

For me, these boxes were born in Isolation and Quarantine…a positive activity that nourished me in ways I never knew I needed.

Some of the materials included in these boxes are, paper, wallpaper, fabric, seashells, sea pearls, sea glass, crystals, cut out words,

and bits of things that have been laying around my house for literally years, waiting patiently for this exact moment to finally arrive.
